She has worked for several years as a freelance researcher and music journalist, as well as serving as an editor for magazines such as Kompositio and FMQ. Hanna’s previous profession was as a flutist and flute teacher.
Hanna can be contacted regarding research and surveys related to the orchestra field. Suggestions and ideas for the Muusikko magazine’s “Levylautanen” (Record Platter) and “Vaihtoehtoja nuotinluvulle” (Alternatives to Reading Music) sections can also be sent to her.
What motivates Hanna in her work is the opportunity to influence existing structures through research. In her magazine work, she delves into phenomena within the music industry.
“Music is immensely important. With my work, I want to support music performers and creators so that they can do their work in the best possible conditions. I’m inspired by the fact that through research, it’s possible to bring to light various practices and structures related to the industry that may not be easily visible without closer examination. This allows us to influence practices and structures that may need updating. In magazine work, I particularly enjoy reading about interesting people and phenomena in the music industry. And I must admit that I also enjoy tweaking commas.”
